Young boy wanting birth mark removal surgery..good or bad idea? please help!?
hey im in grade 12 now and I have this small birthmark in the middle of my right cheek about half the size of a smartie or smaller. It doesnt pop out or anything but it has bothered me since I was very young. I just feel that life would be so much better without it, i cant explain the feeling however I am only 17. I just got my liscence and I am willing to drive there but I dont know how to explain to my mom that I want this thing removed. I dont want to make things awkard after IF she says no.. I really want to get this removed because I am a good looking kid and my self-esteem would be a lot higher. Also i live close to Toronto so im sure there are many cosmetic surgeons around here..

also, if I get it removed, will it be completely gone? i really hope there wouldnt be any small cuts or bruises or anything around the area!
My grandson had pretty much the same thing you described. He got picked on in school because of it and it bothered him a lot. He had it removed when he was about 11-12. He is now 15 and very happy about doing it. There is no sign at all that he had it done.
Luckily his mom was behind his decision because she just wanted him to be happy, even though she thought it was “cute” and part of who he was. Just explain to your mom how you feel and that you would feel better about yourself if it was gone. Does she have any idea at all that you feel this way about it? perhaps you can tell her that it has nothing to do with other people and what they think of you. That it is how you feel about it and that’s what matters…I hope it goes well for you!
*Not true about leaving a scar…I can’t say for sure in your case, but not a mark on my grandson. Talk to a qualified doctor about it*
